Brad Washburn did not photograph only Mount Washington among White Mountains peaks. This view of the Franconia Ridge, second highest ridge in New Hampshire, from the southwest demonstrates its rugged character. Even with a few very popular trails, the recesses of its western flank, including Walker Ravine, still hold closely-guarded secrets divulged only to a hardy few.
