In sharp contrast to the predominantly wild views of the Presidentials, this image shows the heavy hand of man in what became today’s Pemigewasset Wilderness. The lines of logging roads, and the bare slopes that followed the loggers, are unmistakable. While the trees have returned in the intervening 70 years, the faint traces of the logging roads remain to the discerning searcher today.
