A wonderful view of the eastern face of Mount Washington, highlighting three glacial features – Tuckerman Ravine, left, and Huntington Ravine, right -- well-formed glacial cirques, carved out by ice over the ages -- and, in the center, the Ravine of Raymond Cataract – thanks to its location, somewhat sheltered by the bulk of the summit cone, Raymond’s never received as much windblown snow, and thus has yet to gain the crispness and form of its neighbors. Part of the Sherburne Ski trail and the Cutler River can be seen in the forest on the lower slopes of the mountain.
