A wonderful view of the eastern face of Mount Washington, highlighting three glacial features – Tuckerman Ravine, left, and Huntington Ravine, right -- well-formed glacial cirques, carved out by ice over the ages -- and, in the center, the Ravine of Raymond Cataract – thanks to its location, somewhat sheltered by the bulk of the summit cone, Raymond’s does not receive as much windblown snow, and thus has yet to gain the crispness and form of its neighbors.
