Once upon a time, truffula trees, swomee-swans, bar-ba-loots, and the yellow, fuzzy lorax all lived happily on the earth. An industrious and resourceful soul named Once-ler invented an ingenious product called thneeds which served to meet the various needs of everyone whether it was in the form of a hat or a shirt or a sock. Trouble set in when Once-ler decided to mass produce thneeds and chop down every truffula tree. When greed started to wreck havoc on the ecological balance of the plant, it was up to the fuzzy, yellow lorax to save himself, the earth, and the future.
Long before saving the earth became a global concern, Dr. Seuss, speaking through his character the Lorax, warned against mindless progress and the danger it posed to the earth's natural beauty.
