Marty the Cat Poster

hroughout its 75 year history the Observatory has always enjoyed the company of cats at the summit. Long ago our cats helped to keep the mice at bay but in modern times they are simply our friends and companions in the lonely mountaintop weather station. The latest member of the lineage is Marty the Maine Coon. Marty was elected to his post during the famous Cat Primary of 2008 where over 8000 people cast their votes for one of three candidates. Marty won by a landslide 53 percent. Generously donated to the Observatory by the Conway Area Humane Society, Marty is a happy member of the Observatory family and the focus of much attention by a great many fans.
